Where were you placing your email drops? Where were you advertising? What were you offering? And how did you start to build that list of a few 100 people a day. So back bestselling then when I just started doing that. What’s really cool is that you couldn’t really go out and get these email drops in the form of a marketplace or anything like that there wasn’t anything like it. I mean, the whole concept existed, because it’s essentially coming from direct mail, where you rent a list and you drop some kind of mailing to the list. Yeah, but this was a little bit different. Because the twist on these email drops was that you could prepay for a certain number of visitors to your landing page. And whoever was emailing out your stuff to their list. They were committing to doing that. So, my mentor got me into this Skype group out of all things. Right Skype group, okay. It was like a secret community of people that had lists. And they had some big lists, by the way that like tons of people there had a list of over 100,000 people. And what they were doing, they were either arranging what they called ad swaps, which means if you have a list of 50,000, I have a list of 50,000 we can mail for each other and deliver approximately similar numbers for each other. And this way, neither one of us has to pay for it. But is this being what year Yorker’s Skype groups have been? That’s old school stuff. So that is ultimately what year is this? But that was back in 2010 2009. Yeah, yeah. Since then, This evolved into something that’s a bit more mainstream. Now. You can go to places like Udemy for example. And you can there’s like an actual marketplace for it. But what I like to do Udemy has a marketplace for ad swaps. Maybe I’m mispronouncing Udemy as the course website. Right? The course website there’s a website called Udemy as a UD I am I that’s very different. Okay, yeah, that’s slightly different. So, that’s like a market quite different.

You told me that I could rent the email list of course sellers on Udemy. I was about to explain here’s So, the thing about Udemy: So, course sellers like she connected with one who was also Israeli at the time, he sells speed reading and speed learning stuff. Yeah. And I started you know, because I’m always on the list and I asked him so how does that work? Like because I know like someone who’s buying from like if your product is on Amazon, for example, I don’t think you’re actually getting the list to you. You’re not getting it if you’re only selling on Amazon and you’re never following up with them and you’re not using the insert package, right? And you’re not doing all the stuff we talked about correctly? Right. So, you need to like the smart Amazon sellers. They will send you a card for the next purchase or the gift go claim here something like that.

They actually are able to mail the list, but they can only mail it from Demi’s dashboard. And they are only allowed to do it, I think four times a year or something like, oh, my, yeah, so, they, they also do the same Udemy sellers, they actually, the first thing that you usually get is, they’ll invite you to like a Facebook group or something where you can, you know, give them your email address.

So, at the time, it was super cheap, super cheap, I was getting clicks from email lists for like 2527 30 cents per click. That’s good. That’s amazing. Now, the good news is that since then, although it’s been more than 10 years, the pricing, well may have doubled. But it’s very good, it’s still very good. You know, with So, email drops, you get away with a lot less. Now, depending on the niche. Now this, I have to say this, if you’re running into political space, your clicks are going to be a little bit more expensive. If you’re only running two health lists, you should probably expect to pay somewhere between a buck 50 and two point 25. It really depends. But the beautiful part about this is, you don’t need to know any ad optimization stuff, you really only need to give them an email that they can send. And the advantage of that is they actually mail their list from their own name, huh. So, it’s not like you’re coming in and you’re mailing them from your name to a bunch of strangers who don’t know you from Adam. It’s endorsed traffic. Yes. So, it is very similar in concept to a JV mailing. If you were to approach a list owner and say, hey, mail my stuff, and if you sell something, I’ll give you some commission. But that’s actually harder to do, than to then then approaching the same list owner and saying, you know what, if you drop an email to your list, I’ll pay you $500 For the drop or if you can commit to delivering 1000 clicks, I’ll pay you a buck 50 per click or something. So, you’re almost getting a guaranteed outcome here. And the list owner does so for them. They’re So, they’re getting cash.
