Welcome back to another edition of the List Building Lifestyle with your host Igor Kheifets. Few people know this, but you know when you start working from home your lifestyle changes with your work because for many people, their lifestyle kind of rules around their work and when you switch to being your own boss and working from anywhere in the world pretty much and on any schedule you choose and desire, you get the opportunity to decide how your life is going to look like.

Now, for most people it doesn't change much, surprisingly. Most people who work from home, they kind of stick to the same routine. They work in the mornings and then you know, they proceed to have fun in the afternoons. Now, for me, most of the time that's true and most of the time, you know, after I send off the kids to school it's pretty much work time because I have to put in the work before the kids come back from school. But even early on before I had kids, but after I succeeded online, one of the first major changes I've made was how my relationships work specifically my romantic relationship with my wife who at the time wasn't, I think she wasn't my wife, yet. She was like on her way to becoming one. But you know, she always knew, she always knew. So, she kind of figured out that it would happened from day one. But you know, it took me a while to get there.

Anyway, so, the first major change that happened as a result of, you know, me shifting to online marketing and working from home or working from coffee shops is, you know, I started having sex in the mornings instead of having, you know, sex late at night. And here's the reason why you see for the longest time, especially while I was trying to, you know, succeed online and when I had several jobs and you know, it was just a really hectic time in my life. For the longest time I worked security or at facilities and usually that would involve working overnight, meaning that the graveyard shift was usually mine because first off, you know, it's low key, right? There is no supervisors and I mean there's not much going on so you can slack off and that's what I was. I really despised everything about every other job that I had besides the marketing job. That's the only job where I've committed, truly.

But besides that, what this meant was that I would never sleep, you know, with my wife in the same bed at night and I would only come back in the mornings when she was pretty much just going to work or you know, making breakfast or whatever. So, most of the time we were out of sync and I hated that. I hated that because not only I wasn't making any real money, I mean I was just making super, super low, low wage income, but I was also sacrificing the two precious things about my wellbeing. First one, of course, being sex and you know, our relationship because when you go to bed at different times with your partner, there's that disconnect. It's kind of like not having dinner together or you know, just basically not sharing those experiences in common. The experiences you're kind of supposed to share with your partner. So, I would only end up, you know, seeing my wife before she went to work. She would end up seeing me shortly after she came back from work or just before I would just stop by at the shop she was working at and just kind of say, "Hi," and kiss her and just off, you know, on the bus I go.

But the other thing of course is sleep because, and it's now been proven several times over that there is direction and there's connection between having a good night's sleep and being healthy as well as not having a great good nights sleep and you know, getting cancer for example or your brain suffering as a result.

Now I've seen my parents work graveyard shifts a lot, so I never really made that connection. Never really took interest in any of these studies. But now I realize exactly where people get shortchanged when they have to work that sort of, those hours and why, you know, even if the owner of the facility is paying, you know, 150% of the wages, right? They still win because they don't have to show up overnight. They don't have to risk their health. They don't have to give up the time with their loved ones.

So, you know, I got a little bit carried away here, but my point being is this, when you are working from home or when you are a digital marketer, one of the best things that happens to you is that you get to call the shots on how you live your life. Not just, you know, the restaurants you go to, not just the car you drive or the house you live in, which is, you know, it's great for sure. I mean, living in a great neighborhood with kids, it beats living in a bad neighborhood with kids, right? It completely changed the trajectory of their life and maybe your life as well, depending on whether you know, you get mugged or not, et cetera. Or maybe even stabbed or shot. I mean, just think of the, you know, the Batman origin story, right? The guy basically becomes a superhero because his parents get mugged and shot in a really bad neighborhood.

So, I mean, things can happen, but that's like the extreme example. Most of the time, you know, we don't live lives to that extreme and most of the time we are talking about subtle differences that end up creating huge changes in our lives. And one of them, like I said, calling the shots and having to decide how you want to live your life. When do you want to have breakfast? When would you like to spend time with your romantic partner? How would you like to break down your work? You know, would you prefer to work in the mornings or would you prefer to work in the afternoons?

For example, you know, Dennis, he never works in the mornings. I mean he wakes up early, you know, he goes to the gym and he does like, he's got a whole routine going on. You know, he's got a dog so he has to walk the dog, you know. But the point being is that he doesn't start working until like noon and that's his choice. Now, he gets the job done perfectly fine. He's able to be just as productive. It's just he had to find his own rhythm and you see when you work for someone else, you have to work with their clock, not your own.

It really helps. Thanks. Igor: Now for that very reason by the way, I shifted from running my team and operating the team from a position of okay, you have to work these hours and these are the only hours you can work to try and find the optimal hours both for the team member and the business. Meaning that for example, from a standpoint of sales, I had to find someone who is totally fine working, you know, mid day hours for instance rather than super early mornings because you know, super early morning people are still sort of getting into it. You know, they're like, they take a while to get into it. Plus, of course there are times zone differences and other things like that.

So, if for nothing else, even if not for the money but for the reason of calling the shots in your life, deciding where, you know, how often do you want to go on vacation or where you'd like to go on vacation, you know, or when you'd like to have sex or when you'd like to go to the gym. If for nothing other than these things, it's totally worth becoming an online marketer because the first of the self image you end up building as a result of being able to call these shots while everyone else cannot is incredible, right? And the role model you set for your family and friends and your kids is also very important. Lisa is important to me. I want my daughter to look up at me and be like, "Okay, daddy, so what are you doing?" And I can say, "I'm working," and she says, "Why do you work?" And you say, "Because I love my work," right? Not because we have to pay the bills.

Just the other day I took my daughter to a pumpkin fest here in the area and just a big, like a carnival sort of a thing going on. There's like face paint and all kinds of rides and you know, grilled corn and like just a good old fashioned family fun. And we were standing in line to this face paint thing and next to the face paint thing, there's this tattoo like a glitter tattoo that you can get. And so I noticed there was this couple who came up to the glitter tattoo, you know, stand whatever and the kid was like, "Hey mommy, I want this one, I want this one." And you know, she's pointing at this super girl logo that she wanted tattooed with glitter on her arm. And the mommy says like, it's sort of like, you know, it stuck like nails on the chalkboard. Basically the mommy goes like, "Um, honey. Yes. So honey, the tattoo is $10. Think about it. The tattoo is $10. Do you want the tattoo for $10 Are you sure that $10? $10 a tattoo? Are you sure? Do you want the tattoo for 10? Think about it, honey."

And so the mother goes on like for two minutes, basically planting this big idea that honey, $10 is really expensive, so why don't you just not get a tattoo? Let's save the $10 or whatever. And I'm like, you know, I didn't say anything obviously because in Canada it would be considered impolite and just out of line. But man, I pity that child because they're going to grow up thinking that $10 is a lot of money and by the time they grow up, $10 is not going to be even able to buy you like chewing gum because of the inflation and all the other things that are coming up probably with all the, you know, mess that's going on in the world.

So, I mean, what sort of conditioning do you want to give to your family? Do you want to give them the conditioning that you are a victim of circumstance and that you have no control over anything? Or would you rather show them that you get to call the shots, you get to decide and you can create the life in the way that you feel is perfect for you rather than having to sort of default to what you're allowed or not allowed to do? Or default to a schedule you're allowed to live by or default to location or default to just, you know, not being able to afford a $10 tattoo.

Well, in my opinion, it's not even a debate. Like if you're listening to this podcast and this is a dilemma for you, like you're not, obviously you're listening to the wrong podcast because you should probably stick to a job. Now as far as I'm concerned, again, even if not the money itself, even if not the monetary benefit of being an online marketer and creating your own personal economy around yourself and wherever you are. Even if you live in a very small town, you know, somewhere in rural America and you know, like there's bad economy and then no jobs, et cetera. Like, you can do it now from wherever you are. I did it from a total shit hole of a place and you know, if I could do it from Israel, from a very small town in Israel where, you know, whenever there is a factory shutting down, like half the city is out of a job. It was bad. It was like almost as bad. Things kind of became very bad at one point, almost as bad as what happened in Detroit.

So, when like most people who relied on these jobs and had to work these facilities, and when the facilities shut down, and over the last 10 years, I would say about four of them shut down, four big ones, shut down. You've seen thousands of people like just lose their jobs and sort of give up. You know, many went on to collect social security, some started drinking, others moved away. But the town sort of like just sort of, you know, died. And even though that happened, you know, I ended up prospering and people who work with me ended up prospering and you know, so we ended up creating our own economy using the digital marketing world.

So again, even if not for that, which is a great, great, great, great reason to do it. Just for the fact that you get to control your life and you get to not only decide when you want to wake up and whether you want to have an alarm clock or not, but you actually end up making much more important decisions throughout your life and really have to invest the time to consider how you want to live your life. A question that most people don't even ask themselves because they're too busy living the rat race, if not for anything other than that, you should be striving to become a digital marketer.

So here's a, you know, just a philosophical tidbit for you. Anyway, thank you so much for tuning in for another episode of the List Building Lifestyle. I'm your host, Igor Kheifets and until next time we chat, have a good one.
