Tell me when the timetable was when you have a 1000 person list and no one’s paying attention. You’re buying traffic and no you can’t get it to ROI. When did you make the pivot over and just say okay?

Yeah, so it was when I had to go and beg for my job back. Basically what ends up happening is I experienced a tiny little success. I had one customer buy every offer in an affiliate funnel I promoted at the time to make me a great commission. And it just so happened to mention the commission what the total was like $500 for the whole thing. So

That was your big way and 500 bucks. Yeah, but again, remember, I lived in Israel at the time. So 500 bucks actually pays for my groceries for quite a bit. I just want to be clear, your big win wasn’t a $5 million exit.

It was no $100 Oh, no. Oh, no, God, no. No. So it was 500 bucks. And as far as I’m concerned, that’s like $500 of real money coming from the magic internet that I gave to my naysayer father who says stop wasting your time on this go get a real job. So at the time, I worked in housekeeping in a hotel. So I was basically scrubbing toilets, for a living at the Dead Sea, which is located right near to the town where I grew up in Israel. And, that day when I got the commission was also the day when my boss once again yelled at me and told me that I was an idiot, bla bla bla bla. And I say, you know what, I don’t need this anymore. And I walked away. And then for the next few months, I really grinded it out, I really sort of said you know what, I don’t know what’s going to work. But I’m going to try everything. Social media and the content, maybe throwing some paid ads into it. I was just trying to like spam almost and see what where I can hit just throwing everything at the wall? Yeah. And eventually, nothing happened. And I had to drag my ass spatially, nothing happened. And I had to drag my head back. And I had to ask for my job back. And that was the day when I mean, I was still committed to the dream of building an online business because that was what it was for me. I was really into the idea that I want to make money from my laptop. That’s because I just liked it. I don’t know, I just really liked the idea. And I said, but I have to change. I had to change something. So I went out and found a mentor, which I think is just as important. As far as you know, my journey to success goes, I finally found a mentor. I got a loan in the bank to pay the mentor because He charged me two grand again at the time, big, big, big money. So I loaned about half of it from the bank on the credit card and half of it from my grandmother who was really supportive actually, for some reason. I don’t know I was never her favorite, you know, grandson or anything but she was really supportive. And I paid him his name was Jason. And he actually was the one to teach me that look, you go and you hit lists that are already subscribing in the niche that you want. And you can go into any niche with this. And it is cheap, because there’s no really there’s no super, like large amounts of competition, so they don’t drive the traffic price up. And you’re getting responsive support. And all of a sudden, I’m starting to add hundreds of subscribers per day to my list, I send them to an affiliate funnel, so I make them opt into my list, but I sent them to an affiliate funnel at this point, no, they don’t have any other product stuff. Building the list. Yeah, just focus on the list building. And I’m almost breaking even with an affiliate product, it’s just how good the traffic is. And I’m reinvesting all the Commission’s and making back into it. And then he tells me, Hey, you, what you can do now is you can actually start using your own products and keep all the money. And at the time I thought my English was still broken. So my mentor actually used to mock me and he used to call me Borat because of my broken English. So I didn’t feel comfortable maybe creating, you know, a membership site or whatever. So I went out and I got some PLR which basically stands for private label rights, which means you can eat if someone else created the content, packaged it into a product. And now you can buy that product for peanuts like $5, $7 , or $17 . Some whip something together, and you whip together your own product. Yeah, exactly.

And now we needed a sales page. And at the time, again, still trying to learn the ropes. I basically went out and I found a sales page that I really liked. And I tried to model it. And what I’ve done is at the time, I came across Ryan Deiss his sales page. I don’t know if you remember that. You probably remember that. I know. Basically, he had something to do with a napkin. Napkin, he drew out like a business on a napkin or a zillion dollar napkin. Yeah, yeah. So I figured, well, I like that idea. Oh, I have an idea. What if I use a USB drive? So I took a photo of just a USB drive. And I use that photo in the sales page to say that there’s something on this USB drive that’s really going to help you with your business. And I sold it. And it worked. So all of a sudden, I’m using the same traffic strategy, but I’m sending people to my product first. And it’s working. I’m breaking even though I’m turning a profit. Then I saw something interesting. I was like, oh wait, what if on the download page, I’ll put up an ad for someone else’s product that’s complementary to what I have, which is exactly what I’ve done. And I noticed that almost every other customer that I generated, also bought the other product. I was like, wow, that’s really cool. So buyers buy. So then I said I’ll have an upsell of my own. I went out and I got a PLR product, stuck it in. And then this time it’s worth it. I think it was $17 and it worked. So suddenly now every customer is tremendously more valuable.
