You don’t have to be passionate about technology to be successful in online marketing. No, but you have to be passionate about at least one aspect of it. Like I’m not passionate about building sites. I’m not passionate about web design. I’m not passionate about, you know, playing around with my autoresponders settings. But I am passionate about email marketing in general and, you know, talks about what makes an email less profitable or how to get more emails delivered. You know, they fascinate me now I don’t Geek on the super technicalities of it. That’s something I leave to people who enjoy it. Like Dennis, for example, you know, or another guy that’s on our team right now, his name’s Matt, who’s like geeking out on that stuff all day long. And he’s like hitting me up about segmentation, a lot of stuff like that. So but I don’t, I don’t necessarily geek out on that. But I understand it, I see the value. And I’m passionate about the impact that has on the business in my life. So for me, the aspect I was and am still most passionate about when it comes to online marketing is control, control over my finances, control over the amount of money I’m making, the virtually unlimited potential as to how much I can be making. It’s the ability to reach large amounts of people without having to do lots of manual work and labor to do it. You know, how can you not be passionate about spending one hour on a webinar and reaching 1000s of people? Can you imagine how many one on one conversations I would need to have? Can you imagine how much it saved not having to commute to places like back in the day? You know, people were excited about the idea of having a speaking business, we had to fly out to different locations around the country and spend three or four days in a hotel getting on stage. It was, I mean, it was a nightmare. I mean, like back in the day, people were excited about it because they still ended up doing one too many presentations. But I’m not excited about that. I’m not excited about leaving my family for three to four days at a time several times a month, really not no matter how much it takes, I’m not excited about driving downtown. I’m excited about staying here in this chair, and reaching people from here. So you basically have to find what you are excited about in relation to what we do here. And then really make the connection. Yes, I don’t like playing with my Get Response account. But it will make me a lot of money. And I am passionate about having money because I’m passionate about fishing. And fishing is an expensive hobby. Or maybe I want to take that trip to Alaska and fish over there. But it cost seven grand, you know, like you can you really just need to associate it with what you love. And what would you be able to do? You won’t need external motivation. Like for me, I’m a father, right? Two kids, a spouse household. And as a guy, I always felt that my job is to provide. I’ve been brought up by my parents this way. They put a lot of work into me and they would have a bigger responsibility on my shoulders as well. They’re like you have to succeed. So you can pull us up from you know, from the ghetto. And I eventually did that. But that message kind of stayed there. And so now I feel like I have to take care of everyone I care about. And to me, this is how I do it. I have to make so much money that I can take care of everyone, you know, whether I live in Toronto or not with my extended family or not. But anyone who knows me will tell you like I spent a lot of money on my extended family. Not necessarily a great move in my opinion, but it was just this whole I have to take care of everyone as it’s there. And so I connected it to making money. But at the same time, there’s the other aspect and that is I have to be a great father, which means I have to spend a lot of time with my kids. I have to be present in their lives. So it cannot be done in a way where I’m away, where I’m constantly way where I’m not paying attention where I’m not engaging them, where, you know, they don’t feel my presence that will compromise everything for me. So I had to find a way where I can achieve both objectives without compromising their ego, that’s all my business. So if that if I achieve these two objectives by being on my laptop and figuring out email deliverability, and doing some technical stuff every now and again, so be it, I’ll do it. And if I can, I’ll bring someone who can, I’ll figure out a way to do it. Even if I don’t have the money to pay them, I’ll figure out a way I’ll water them I’ll, I’ll do something for them that you know, that they can do themselves, whatever that means. But you won’t have to ask me twice. You know what I mean? Like there’ll be so much internal drive to do it, that I won’t even be thinking about. I don’t want to deal with it right now. Like it’ll just be pushing me so hard. But that’s because I’m very clear in my on my values. It’s quite incredible what you can achieve as far as motivation is concerned as far as eliminating procrastination and all the distractions if you just get clear on what’s important to you and tie it into the vehicle that you want to use to achieve those important goals in your life.
