[00:20] In this episode, Igor discusses various aspects of email marketing, particularly focusing on his personal experiences and strategies for achieving success in the field.
[01:40] The Mystery of Missing Sales:
- I’m at Starbucks in the morning, checking my sales, and they’re nowhere to be found. So I’m getting increasingly frustrated. It’s just a day before our planned departure.
- However, on the plane ride back home from the airport, I started seeing sales rolling in—sales, sales, sales, one after another. It appears they took a few days to break through the noise.
[02:40] The 30% Coupon Code Blitz:
- As the deadline approaches, I notice a steady increase in sales. Toward the end, we introduced a 30% off coupon code, and suddenly, sales were pouring in almost every hour. This shift occurs over time after sending the initial batch of emails to thousands of subscribers who initially showed no interest.
- What drove this change was our persistent approach, continually trying different angles and emphasizing the limited-time nature of the offer.
- We maintained a consistent presence by sending emails. In fact, just yesterday, I sent four or five emails to those who opened but didn’t click.
- Our strategy was to stay top of mind, addressing any potential objections they might have.
[03:25] Persistence Pays Off:
- Sometimes it’s about nurturing your list while it percolates, like warming up a lukewarm cup of coffee. Eventually, like popcorn, they’ll be ready to make a move. Other times, it’s about finding the right angle. For example, in the weight loss niche, explaining the impact of metabolism on weight loss and introducing a scientific discovery can trigger action.
- However, for those who have tried various diets unsuccessfully, it requires a different approach. It can’t be just another diet; it has to be something distinct. Finding that mechanism can be challenging, as internal barriers are high.
[05:23] A Winning Email Strategy:
- One of the most effective strategies, reflecting on my experience, is consistency. Sometimes it takes a year or even several years to convert a prospect into a buyer.
- People in your market will have varying preferences and timelines. Your role is to persistently deliver a consistent stream of emails over time. This approach solidifies your position with subscribers, even if they wait to engage.
- Eventually, the right email will capture their interest, especially if you present various angles and sub-niches within your niche.
