[00:56] The Imposter VA:
- Essentially, you hire somebody even through an agency, it can be direct, but the person doing the work is actually not the person you think.
- If it’s an agency, sometimes you talk to one of their more articulate, well-spoken agents. And then they pass it down to some very junior-level people to do the actual work.
- That way they pay a higher salary to one person who’s kind of the front and lower salaries to people who are kind of junior level people coming in at a much lower price.
- It’s this broken phone effect, where I say something to person A who transfers it to person B, but by then a big chunk of things are missed.
- One thing that we do a bit differently is that we basically make it very transparent so our clients actually pay our VAs directly.
- Clients don’t feel like they’re being overcharged and the VAs don’t feel like we’re taking money out of their pocket.
[05:14] Hiring VAs from the Philippines:
- There is a stipulation in place that, hey, you know, if you’re working through an agency, you don’t attempt to circumvent the agency, because it is a huge part of the economy,
- They rely on foreign businesses to hire Filipinos and work with agencies. So circumvention is a serious thing.
[09:00] The Key To Finding Skilled Labor:
- If you’re flexible with times and location stuff. There’s a lot of skilled labor in your domestic countries.
- There’s a lot of skilled labor, and people who are hungry for the type of work.
[11:10] Getting Ghosted By Online Employees:
- It’s super easy to ghost people or do a poor job and disappear. That’s one of the biggest challenges.Â
[12:03] Hiring The Right People:
- Some people have a certain type of personality that’s better for certain types of tasks. And if you have close contact with a VA, you can usually identify it.
- Just like us, we prefer to do stuff that we enjoy doing. That should extend to the whole team.
- I believe that when we hire team members, we can put the right person in the right role, regardless of where they are in the world.Â
[13:53] Can A.I. Replace Virtual Assistants?
- We can have as much technology at our fingertips as possible. But, when it really comes down to it, there are a lot of things entrepreneurs are still going to resist doing.
- A part of me gets very excited about using AI on a day-to-day basis. And I have to say, an equal part of me is concerned with where it’s going.
- It’s not that AI is going to be the challenge. It’s what we as humans decide to do with AI is the first concern.
[36:27] Benefits Of Hiring A VA:
- If all you did was hire a VA to just kind of keep you on track would be a game changer for a lot of entrepreneurs.
- Stream the episode to learn how Igor and Beejel effectively delegate tasks to their VAs.
- Hiring locally is not as easy as people think, if you are, let them know your pros and cons.
- So you definitely will be working with somebody who understands what the hell they’re doing.Â
