When I started out, I started out as you know, I grew up poor, my dad was a mechanical engineer, my mom was a music teacher, and I grew up in post Soviet Ukraine, where nobody had money but criminals. So besides not seeing money, growing up, anytime I did see any big money, it was usually in the hands of people who were breaking the law, hurting people, racketeering, stealing stuff, doing all kinds of stuff. So I grew up with the idea that there’s no big money, and accessing that money is impossible if you’re just doing honest work. So no, I didn’t grow up with the idea that I can access money, or that money is easy to come by. But of course, that’s only the product of my surroundings. I just went to see Neil de Grace Tyson, first off, an amazing speaker.

Like, the way he presents ideas is just insane. Like, as a copywriter, I always enjoy his take on things, the way he’s able to make everything very relatable and bring it down to, you know, my level of understanding things, even when he’s talking about planets and universes. So he actually shared some images from the James Webb telescope. And he basically showed how, you know, kind of zoom out photos of, like, going from Earth or sun, and, you know, expanding into, like, the Milky Way, the and all the way to the observable universe. And this really hit me, because, like, if I didn’t see that talk, I would be just thinking about the planet, for example, that would be, like, the limit to what I would see. 

But then you look into a telescope and you see that we’re beyond the planet. There’s a whole solar system, there’s the sun, there’s the Milky Way, there’s the universe. And so it makes you realize that the world is much bigger than you think. And in many ways, most people live their lives when it comes to their understanding of success and financial success, or access to money, or being able to make money easily, their understanding is limited to their observable universe. That’s literally the people we hang out with and the things we see, which is why you have to read books on the subject. You have to physically get to know people who are making a lot more money than you, because you then realize that they’re the same people, they’re like, not made of any different material or anything. 

And at the same time, they’re able to make money happen much faster, much easier. With way less effort. They seem to be less stressed out, and happier, etc. So the way to break out of that, it’s harder to do, first with just books, but books are great for that, just to get you going in the right direction, ideally, though, you want to hang out with people who are making a lot more money than you. You can go to seminars and just spend a couple of days in a room with people who are making a lot more money than you, because then it just flips a switch and makes you recognize that, hey, there is a bigger universe beyond the one that I’ve been living in, because the moment that switch happens, and it usually happens internally, like you can’t make it happen, like you’ll feel it like it just, oh, switch. It’s like you weren’t in love, and then you fall in love, and then the world changes inside of you, right?

You’ll see the world differently. Also people who were annoying, you don’t annoy you anymore. What’s up with the things you hated, you don’t hate them as much. You know, things like that. So what I’m saying is, by literally, physically hanging out with people who are richer than you, you will start getting that sense first, though, at least for me, anytime I’m expanding my universe, the sense is no freaking way, like, I don’t know why, but my ego defense mechanism is, like, No freaking way that’s possible they’re not telling you something. They must be cheating the system somehow. But you know, that’s just, that’s just ego trying to protect itself, because admitting that those people are making a lot more money than you is basically admitting that you’re stupid. And for me to admit that I’m stupid is a very difficult thing to admit. I hate being wrong. I especially hate being wrong publicly. You know, I’ve just went to Boca to speak at the groove mastermind. Michael Filsame invited me, the founder of groove, and I spent some time in the room with people who basically were making a lot of money and sound actually. There was one guy who sold a few companies, and he made 10s of millions of dollars. 

Now I make millions of dollars a year, but I don’t make 10s of millions a year, and I certainly haven’t sold any companies, because, you know, the kind of business that we do here is a cash generating business, right? We don’t, we don’t build to sell. We just make money today. So, you know, being in the room with him, and, you know, in similar rooms in the past, you know, it makes me want to think, can I go and build something that I can then sell for 20, 50, mil, right? And that would be a totally different category of business, beyond my observable universe. So by hanging out with people like that, by hanging out with people who invest in real estate, by hanging out with people who invest in crypto, this is how I expand my universe. 

For example, before coming to Canada, I only purchased real estate by paying for it in cash. I only did it once, and I bought an apartment for my parents because I didn’t want them to pay rent anymore. But I wasn’t an investor, because what I was what I was hanging out with people who were either work people or entrepreneur people, and they were just fine. They were immigrants like me, and they were fine with renting. Nobody was an investor. When I came to Canada, the first thing that I ended up realizing was that everyone’s investing in real estate over here because of the constant real estate boom, the inflow of immigrants like myself who come in, they’ve got some money to spend. They want to build a new life for their family. So within just a couple of years, what ends up happening is buying a house. Now, thankfully, this house went up in value by about $300,000

because of all the you know things that happened during covid and immigration, and there’s even more people coming in now, lots of people from Ukraine, lots of people from all over the world. But the point being is that if I stayed in Israel and I hung out with the same people, I wouldn’t be able to kind of expand my inner universe. So in the same sense, I highly recommend you get in with people who are making more money than you, but preferably physically in a room where you get to, you know, basically touch them, you know, be like, Oh, you’re a real person, you know, because the energy is going to be different. You’re like, what that person’s worth 10 million like, but they look so, you know, normal, or even worse, like they could be very awkward, like in person, you know. And when I meet with them in person, they like the confidence that they can’t really communicate clearly. Their body language kind of sucks. And looking and being like that guy is making more money than me, you know. And I hate it. A little ego dies. You know that part that takes a little bit and then beyond this, okay, what is he doing? What is he doing?

And so for me, with the most recent in my business, the most recent observation, or, if you will, like, the most recent expansion, took place in Vancouver in April, because then it was a room full of other, you know, seven and eight figure marketers. And there were some people in that room who were out earning me by a factor of three to one. I’m and I’m very competitive. So I’ve literally like, you know, set them down and fed them lunch, and I’ve literally asked them all the questions. Eventually, one of them actually took me to their offices, which were in Vancouver, are in Vancouver, and I just, I was just there physically for a couple of hours, and, you know, stepping out, I was angry, because it’s like, oh, he figured out something that I didn’t figure out, etc. But then once that passed, maybe a couple weeks later, I started building into similar direction because, like, well, this direction that I need to take next if I want to go from, you know, whatever I’m making now to double, triple, quadruple. That, in fact, last week, that was the first milestone in that direction, a major milestone in that direction, and I anticipate within the next six months.

Uh, for us to increase our size. I don’t know if it’s going to increase our profits, but at this point, I’m more concerned about size. We’re probably going to increase in size by a factor of, you know, 50% so I’m expecting to grow, which means, like, hiring more people, having bigger reach, uh, getting the list to grow by 50% of that time, because we’re going to, basically, we’re doing something we have never done before. And again, it all happened because my immediately observable universe got expanded because of one trip, one trip. That’s it. That’s all it took. It literally broke the paradigm that I was living in. And it made me realize, okay, this is what I need to do, and all of a sudden you just go do it with no drama, because your universe expanded. It’s really powerful.
