I used to have the scarcity mindset and I used to like to hold on to my best stuff. But what I’ve discovered is it doesn’t make me less successful if I share my best stuff. If anything, it makes me connect with people on a different level. And it makes people recognize that, you know, it’s okay to be open about how you make your money like I come from a very closed, sort of minded background was one of the things one of the rules that we had in our family and in general family set around us is we would never tell other people about our success, and especially about monetary success, for two reasons. One, if you had some kind of success, like winning in a competition or whatever you didn’t like, you want to shove it in people’s faces. That wasn’t cool. But the other thing is, especially with monetary success is if you were telling other people how you were making your money, or that you were making money, two things could happen. One, bad guys could show up and ask you to share the money. And that was a real thing.

So, you really need it to keep your money, money, money, theory, success, quiet, not backed by anything flashy, etc. The other thing is if somebody finds out you’re making money in some way, they’ll try and take a piece of it. And back then it was a really scarce environment. Like when I just got into self-development, and heard people like Napoleon Hill and Tony Robbins and Bob Proctor, and other financial educators talk about abundance, talk about the idea of sharing and teaching. Like, it didn’t make sense to me. Because when I was growing up, I was growing up in an environment where opportunity was scarce, where one person making money meant and other person was not making money, where I couldn’t get rich without making a bunch of people by default. And I now recognize that it’s not true in the world we live in today, thanks to the internet, thanks to the development of the modern world in the modern era, thanks to technology in many ways that was developed in the last 30 years. I think now there’s way more money to be made than any one person can make. I think that it’s far easier to make it today than it used to be. And I think that even if I shared my best stuff out there in public openly for free, it would not make me any less rich than I am today. I think that it actually has no impact on how rich I am. If anything, just makes people want to listen to me more therefore makes me richer and relationships and attention. That will translate into money. One or another point down the line. But holding back doesn’t make any sense anymore.

There’s no benefit in holding back. And there’s also no downside to sharing. I literally got in front of a crowd and gave him my best secrets from running a seven figure solo ads agency and no one took anything to heart. But they all liked me. You know, they told me how, you know, it was a great speech. And that’s cool and whatever. But I never saw any of them actually implement anything that I taught at that talk, which made me realize that you can be giving people your best stuff all day long, especially if you do it for free. And you know, 99% of people won’t even use it. I don’t know why. I really don’t know why. Because when I started, I was trying to grab every possible advantage. So, whether I learned for free or not, I was really going for it. These days, not so much. These days, I come across lots of information, lots of secrets, techniques, lots of business opportunities, but I can’t be bothered. I just realized that I’m limited in the amount of time and energy that I can invest into any particular thing and I’m just being very picky about where I wear it. Pay attention, so it’s more of a conscious decision to limit intake.
