Every successful entrepreneur has been there. The moment where they seriously considered walking away and never looking back. Igor did too. He quit for two months. Got a day job. And came back with more fire than he had before. In this episode, Igor shares the pay stub moment that broke him, why the desire to quit never goes away even after you make money, and the shocking statistic about successful students he has tracked over the years that nobody in this industry talks about.
[00:53] The Two Months Igor Quit Internet Marketing Entirely:
- A year into internet marketing, working 8 to 12 hours a day, sleeping next to the computer, never leaving the house, and seeing virtually no results, Igor gave up completely.
- He was chasing shiny objects: social media posting, blogging, lots of effort applied in the wrong direction. He could spend three hours reading articles instead of writing them and call it work.
- The motivational YouTube videos and law of attraction books kept him going for a while, but without tangible results there was no real foundation for positivity.
- He returned to a full-time day job and stayed for about two months. Not because it was good. Because he needed to remember how bad it was.
- Coming back to a boss, a fixed schedule, and a paycheck that someone else controlled gave him everything he needed to return to building his business with renewed obsession.
[04:38] The Pay Stub That Broke the Camel’s Back:
- For one full month, six days a week, Igor worked 12-hour days expecting to double his paycheck through overtime.
- After all the deductions, health contributions, pension, and taxes, the paycheck came in about 30% higher than usual. Not double. 30%.
- He held that pay stub and wanted to cry. Not from sadness but from the feeling of being completely cheated.
- What made it worse was that the people around him, colleagues and managers alike, never complained about their pay. They had been conditioned to accept it.
- That moment of clarity, that the next 20 years could look exactly like this, was what sent him back to his business with no expiry date on his commitment.
[10:12] The Shocking Statistic Nobody Talks About:
- It is okay to want to quit. It is not okay to quit. And the desire to quit does not go away, even when you are making money.
- About half or slightly less than half of Igor’s successful students eventually quit the business, either to start something else or return to employment. These were people who had already made money and were their own bosses.
- Go and interview any business owner on main street and you will hear the same thing. The restaurant owner who would not wish it on his worst enemy. The doctor who wants to retire. The consultant who hates his clients.
- Mike Dillard of Magnetic Sponsoring fame left information marketing, sank his life savings into a hydroponics business, and came out the other side saying he had no idea how good he had it in information marketing. We only truly appreciate something after we lose it.
- A musician in the Genius Network making $300,000 a year, playing with artists like Bruno Mars, asked Igor to explain e-farming because he was tired of his own business and wanted to scale down.
[18:01] Why the Desire to Quit Is Not About the Money:
- The desire to quit is not tied to your income, your ability to make money, or your performance in the business.
- It is tied to the weight of responsibility. Every decision. Every direction. Every result. All of it sits on your shoulders and yours alone.
- That weight is tiring. And it is part of what every business owner opts into when they choose financial freedom over the security of a paycheck.
- Practicing gratitude and reminding yourself how good you have it in online business, where there are no physical products, no inventory, no staff of fifty, is not a soft skill. It is a survival skill.
- The desire to quit never leaves. The ones who build something real are the ones who keep going anyway.
