The Email That Changed Everything

As you grow your email list and time passes, initially, at the very start, you don’t see much growth, so you’re adding subscribers, adding subscribers, adding subscribers, adding subscribers and Nothing. It seems like nothing’s happening, but then what’s going to happen is it’s going to skyrocket to the next level, and then it’s going to plateau at some level, then it’s going to skyrocket again. And I don’t know why it happens that way. You kind of have to build momentum before a spike happens, but that’s how it works, and it’s something I’ve seen many, many times before with my own list, as well as with a list of my peers and students. And you know, for me this breakthrough came when I was promoting a program called the Deadbeat Super Affiliate by Dan Brock at one point. And I remember that day I took on a gig. 

I basically borrowed my dad’s car. It was a beat down Dio Nubira, which is kind of like an equal to Chevy Cruze, you know, like a four door sedan, but like a very small one. So I took this guy to the airport to meet somebody that was coming to visit him, and then took him back. And so I think I’ve earned like, 100 bucks or something, big money for me at the time. So I came back home and my dad was watching football. It was the Champions League game, and so usually, whenever, you know, he would be watching, I’d be watching with him. That’s probably the only thing we had in common back then. So we were watching football, and I’m thinking, Well, I didn’t send my email today yet, and it’s like, 8pm local time, which is about 1 pm Eastern. So I sit down and I just write an email. I think my list was something like 2200 people, maybe 1700 people. So it’s not like, huge, right? But it’s bigger than nothing. And I just write this really heartfelt email, man. I was like, I just, you know, I was driving all day. My back hurts like hell. My lower back really hurt that day because the seats in that car, I mean, really terrible. The car was already 10 years old at the time, so it wasn’t great seats to start with. So you can only imagine what happens after. And my hand hurt, my back hurt, and I was like, and that’s, you know, I really hate it, and, you know, I really wish I didn’t spend so much time sitting down and I had more time to maybe work out and stay healthy. And I basically, I rant, right? I just complain, and then I link it to the to the Deadbeat Super Affiliate offer, saying, Look, you just, you know,

you don’t have to spend so much time behind, you know, computer screen, or, you know, so much time working there’s, there’s a shortcut, right? There’s a better way to do it. Check this out. And so I didn’t really expect much, because up until that point, I would make a sale here and there, right? It was nothing major, but that, that email, that one email, that was the breakthrough, man. It was actually also one of the first few times when I used storytelling, by the way. So I wake up the next so I send it again, eight or 9pm my time, which is one or 2pm Eastern, and I close the laptop and done, I go to bed around midnight, probably after the game is over, and I wake up the next morning and I open up my commission account, and there’s like, 17 sales. Nuts. Never had so much money in a day from one email. So naturally, I was like, Wow, that’s nice. Maybe I should send more emails. So for the next five days or so, I’m like, I keep sending story based emails heartfelt. The next two emails are a bit of a miss, because they only bring in maybe two or three sales each. Still better than nothing. But day four and five, I once again, really hit it. And I think day four, it made me.

Maybe seven more sales, and the last day I did maybe 12 more making more money in a week than I’ve made, like from the promotion, than I made at my job. So you see, up until that point, there was not much profitability to talk about, but from that point, it stayed pretty consistent, sometimes lower, sometimes higher, but all of a sudden, I’m seeing something all the time. So you know, the most important thing was to be consistent at two things, one at adding new people to your list, and two, at emailing your list. The only two things that I proceeded doing, I gave up on social media. I gave up on video content creation. I gave up on many different things, including creating ebooks. I just, you know, bought more solo ads mailed. Bought more solo ads mailed more solo ads mailed. So it just became like it kind of simplified my life, to be honest, because I knew exactly the two things I needed to do, and that took me to the next level until I was able to quit my job eventually.
