One Simple Method to Get Unstuck Fast

So, today I was struggling with a decision. Basically, it was a decision about whether or not to bring someone in, an external consultant, for a few challenges that I haven’t been able to solve for the last couple of years, and I was really undecided, it wasn’t a “yes”, it wasn’t “no”. And I told ChatGPT, because now it has memory, so it accumulates over time, and gets to know you a little better.

And I said, “help me make a decision!” And I said, “the way you can help you make a decision is by asking me a series of multiple choice questions, where you ask me the question, I pick one of the options, and based on that, you know what I truly want and what I truly don’t want, and eventually it will lead me to a decision”.

And then, he started asking me the questions, like, “Okay, what is the reason you want to bring this person on? Is it higher revenue, more freedom, blah, blah, blah”. It’s like, okay, this, “okay, what is the one thing you’re not willing to give up if that person joins, is it this, is it that?”

Five questions later, it was like a clear “No”. Five questions later, which took, all in all, maybe six or seven minutes for me to really think this through. It was clear to me that it’s a definite “No”. I immediately emailed the guy and I said, “I appreciate it, it’s a “No”, here’s why”, done! Saved the relationship with that person, there’s clarity, etc.

Now, I’ve had a number of these difficult situations in life, obviously. And, back in the day, I could have carried this around for two, three, four months. And if you’ve ever had that experience of having a decision you gotta make, but not having the clarity to make it and then carrying it around with you, for months, you know how heavy that burden gets.

You know how you start procrastinating, you start binge watching TV shows just to avoid thinking about it. You start overeating for that same reason, because there’s a lot of uncertainty and you want to fill that sort of empty space. And now there’s no need for that, because it helps me get towards clarity much faster.

Yesterday, I was brainstorming with ChatGPT about a product idea, there were actually three ideas. I couldn’t decide which one to implement first and how. Eventually, 30 minutes of chatting with the ChatGPT, as well as using this question methodology, done! Already started working on the product idea.

So, I think the sky’s the limit as far as how you can use it. But some of the best use cases for me, so far, are: decision making, analysis of my own behavior, ability to create content, whether marketing content or content content, framing, reframing of different situations, crafting communication, so, crafting emails or messages to other people where I’m having trouble.

For example, I needed to craft a reply to somebody who really pissed me off. I mean, I’m talking pissed me off to a point where I couldn’t focus the whole day, like it was really frustrating, but it’s a person that I could not have just ignored, and I couldn’t have just said, “f off”, right? We’ll have relationships like that in our life.

So, I went to ChatGPT, and I said, “craft a response that says this and this, and make it in such a tone and make sure to mention this. Throughout the whole response, be firm, but not be offensive”, right? So, I basically calibrated and had it craft the response.

Now, I remember a time before ChatGPT, when, especially during my trips with my family, I remember one time I was in New York with my family, and there was a customer or something, but I don’t remember, it was somebody who was like, I was involved with for work, and there was like, I think two or $3,000 at stake, and I had to, yeah, I think it was a refund request or something, and I had to craft a reply to that person.

So, it was something, there was a conversation going on for like, a while, and I remember spending a full hour, an hour! Crafting an email to that person, that was like this big, trying to basically, kind of counter their points.

And when I was done with that email, it was exhausting! I still ended up refunding that guy just to get rid of him. And I felt like I’ve wasted, like no one’s going to give me back that time, and no one’s going to give me back that energy. I felt like I’d wasted my time, I honestly did!

Now, that doesn’t happen! Now, if I’m really struggling with a response or reply, ChatGPT comes to the rescue. And it’s not that it helps me craft what I don’t mean, I really mean it! It’s just sometimes the emotions flow so much that I can’t express what I truly want to express. Other times I like the communication range to say something the way I want to say it. So, in that instance, ChatGPT is really useful.

Since moving to Bulgaria, I’ve used chat ChatGPT for a lot of legal research, for a lot of translation, for all kinds of stuff, you won’t believe! Like, I honestly don’t know, what have I done before? I don’t remember life before ChatGPT, I really don’t! I really don’t know how the heck did I get around without that thing in my pocket? I truly don’t know!

And I recommend you all learn how to use it. Just start playing with it for whatever reason , give it challenges, give it tasks, ask it to help you make decisions, ask it to examine and reframe different scenarios, do whatever you have to. It’s really useful! And this is a tool you’re going to use for the rest of your life.
